ASBB continues its ongoing commitment to supporting CSR initiatives with monthly activations
Al Salam Bank-Bahrain, the pioneering Shari’a-compliant bank in the Kingdom, held a children cancer awareness drive throughout the month of September, concluding it with a two-day awareness session in cooperation with the ‘Smile’ initiative of the Future Youth Association.
The event kicked off at the Bank’s headquarters with a lecture by Dr. Amal Dawood from the Health Promotion Department at the Ministry of Health, who spoke to staff about childhood cancer and its initial signs. She discussed how healthy dieting and exercise could help prevent cancer in children, and noted that with scientific and medical advances, treatments for various types of cancer have improved. Gold ribbons related to the cause were distributed among the Bank’s more than 340 staff members, and a day of fun filled activities for children, including a mosaic art workshop, was also organized.
Al Salam Bank Head of Human Resources and Administration, Muna Al Balooshi, said: “As one of its corporate sustainability pillars, Al Salam Bank prioritizes the health and wellbeing of its staff and their families. We are pleased to partner with the Future Youth Association to bring this message to our employees, Al Salam Bank’s ambassadors for the cause, who have shown a high level of interest in the issue and interacted well with our various activities during September. We look forward to the upcoming Think Pink awareness activations.”
Future Youth Association President, Subah Abdul Rahman Al Zayani added: “We commend Al Salam Bank’s efforts in supporting the Smile initiative and helping to further raise awareness about this issue. This annual initiative, under the theme ‘Our Children as Gold’ and now in its sixth year, aims to provide psychosocial support to children with cancer and their parents. We have made great progress thanks to the support of generous corporate stakeholders such as Al Salam Bank.”
